Bryum sauteri B. S. G. is found
in Smolensk Province and this is the first record for the Middle European Russia. The species is
described and illustrated and its differentiation from Bryum rubens, B.
subapiculatum, B. klinggraeffii and B. violaceum is discussed
basing on the Russian material. A key for species of Bryum erythrocarpum
complex is given.
