Fissidens hyalinus has
been found in Russian Far East, Primorsky Territory (‘Vladivostok area’). This
is the northernmost locality of the species which was known previously in Asia
from China and Japan to Malesia (and penetrates also to Northern Australia) and
disjunct in Eastern North America. As many other species of the genus, F.
hyalinus grows on somewhat disturbed soil along roads in forest and meadows.
Only sterile plants were found, that are very small, making the species
inconspicous and, likely, easily overlooked by collectors.
